- מִשְׁמֶרֶתf. (b. h.; preced.) guard, trnsf. (v. גֶּדֶר) preventive measure. M. Kat. 5a; Yeb.21a (ref. to Lev. 18:30) עשו מ׳ למִשְׁמַרְתִּי make a guard to my guard, enact measures to prevent a transgression of Biblical laws.
